Christmas Baklava Recipe:

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. Thaw the phyllo dough according to the package instructions.
  3. In a large bowl, mix together the chopped nuts, granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, and salt.
  4. Layer the phyllo dough in a large baking dish, brushing each layer with melted butter.
  5. Sprinkle a quarter of the nut mixture over the phyllo dough.
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all of the ingredients have been used, ending with a layer of phyllo dough on top.
  7. Brush the top layer of phyllo dough with the beaten egg.
  8. Cut the Baklava into diamond-shaped pieces.
  9. Bake the Baklava for 45-50 minutes, or until the top layer is golden brown.
  10. Remove the Baklava from the oven and let it cool completely.
  11. If desired, drizzle the Baklava with rose water and honey.

Tips and Variations

  • To make Christmas Baklava more festive, you can add a few drops of red or green food coloring to the nut mixture.
  • You can also add other spices, such as ground ginger or ground nutmeg, to the nut mixture for extra flavor.
  • If you don’t have rose water or honey, you can omit them or substitute with other flavorings, such as vanilla extract or lemon juice.
