Instructions
- Prepare the Ribs
- Preheat your oven to 275°F (135°C).
- Rinse and pat the ribs dry with paper towels.
- Remove the membrane on the back of the ribs for the most tender results.
- Season the Ribs
- Rub both sides of the ribs with olive oil, then generously coat with your dry rub. Make sure the seasoning covers every inch for maximum flavor.
- Wrap and Bake
- Lay out large sheets of aluminum foil and place each rack of ribs in the center. Wrap them tightly to trap in the juices and create a steaming effect.
- Place the wrapped ribs on a baking sheet and bake for 2.5–3 hours until tender.
- Add the Sauce
- Remove the ribs from the oven and carefully open the foil (be cautious of steam). Brush a generous layer of barbecue sauce on both sides of the ribs.
- Caramelize
- Set your oven to broil and place the ribs back in the oven, uncovered. Broil for 3–5 minutes, or until the sauce is bubbly and caramelized. Watch closely to prevent burning.
- Serve
- Let the ribs rest for a few minutes, then slice them into individual portions. Serve with extra barbecue sauce on the side.
Tips for Success
- Choose the Right Ribs: Baby back ribs are more tender, while spare ribs are meatier. Both work beautifully with this method.
- Dry Rub First: A good dry rub enhances the smoky, savory flavor even in the oven.
- Low and Slow: Cooking at a low temperature for a longer time ensures tender, fall-off-the-bone results.
